Tea-Estate Solar ## Clean power for the tea industry Tea estates draw heavy power in the processing season, much of it in daylight hours, and many rely on diesel generators when the grid fails. A ground-mount solar plant on estate land cuts both grid bills and diesel. Arrays Ingenieria has become one of the most active solar builders in Assam's tea gardens. Every estate that swaps grid and diesel power for solar cuts fossil-fuel use, contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Panchamrit" climate commitments announced at COP26: 500 GW of non-fossil capacity and half of India's energy needs from renewables by 2030, and net zero by 2070. It also advances Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma's target of 6,000 MW of installed green-energy capacity by 2030, and his decision to let tea gardens use up to 5% of their land for solar.
