SECI 300 MW Solar Project, Koppal: Piling and DC Installation

Construction of pile foundations for the 300 MW SECI solar project at Koppal, Karnataka, one of the largest utility-scale jobs in the company's portfolio.

The Project

About the SECI 300 MW, Karnataka project

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL) issued Arrays Ingenieria an outline agreement on 17 February 2025 for the construction of pile foundations at the 300 MW SECI project.

In July 2025 TPREL extended the company's role on the same project to DC installation: loading and installing modules on 112-module interior and exterior trackers, installing string combiner boxes, terminating the main DC cables, and trenching and laying the cable routes.

Pile foundations carry the module mounting structures of a ground-mount plant, so their depth, alignment and levels decide how the rest of the plant goes up. Arrays Ingenieria's veteran-led site teams work to the EPC's specifications and schedule.

Our scope of work

  • Pile foundations, 300 mm diameter, about 1.7 m deep, for the module mounting structures
  • Loading and installation of 112-module interior and exterior trackers
  • Installation of string combiner boxes
  • Termination of 1C x 240 and 300 sq mm cables
  • Cable trenching, sand bedding, protection bricks, route markers and warning tape
  • DWC HDPE pipe and RCC hume pipe crossings

Challenges and How We Handled Them

Scale

Utility-scale piling means thousands of piles set to tight tolerances of position, depth and level, every day, for weeks.

Trackers

Tracker structures demand accurate piles: a misaligned pile stops a tracker row from moving freely.

From civil to electrical

Moving from piling to DC installation on the same project shows how one veteran-led team can cover several trades on a large site.
